Comrade Kayode Martins, the Oyo state chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has described the governor of the state, Engr. Seyi Makinde as a listening and attentive administrator who is passionate about the welfare of the state’s workforce.

He further commended his administration for running an open government that has led to a mutual relationship with the workers of Oyo state, thereby nurturing and maintaining a conducive working atmosphere in the state.

The NLC boss stated that the governor has recently signed the bill granting autonomy to the judiciary in the state, adding that the state government is ready to implement it as soon as possible.

Speaking on power industry’s privatization in the country, he said “From our investigation, we discovered that when it was privatized, the government ought to perform certain financial obligation but the government reneged on the promises which has resulted in the masses bearing the burden of high electricity tariff”.

The NLC chairman, however, eulogizes the former governor of Oyo state, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala for approving hazard allowances for JUSUN that was termed impracticable by past administrations in the state and the governors in the southwest state, stating that his administration uplifted the living standards of the members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).

The NLC boss made these revelations while featuring on a weekly radio show, Parrot Xtra/Ayekooto on Radio’ anchored by Olayinka Agboola and broadcast live on Splash 105.5FM, Felele Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State’s on Tuesday afternoon.

Speaking on the casualization of workers in Nigeria, “A bill was sent to the National Assembly on this since almost two years ago and the bill has been there, they have still not given it serious attention. As far as we are concerned, casualization of workers is modern day slavery”.

He spoke further: “I really do not wish to venture into politics but I must say it here that I cannot absolve the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of blame as far as the rising rate of inflation in the country is concerned. I will say that the APC government has failed Nigerians”.
