Dr Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State’s Secretary to the Government, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji has been declared the winner of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Governorship Election Primary held on Thursday to elect the Candidate of the party in the State ahead of the June 18th, 2022 poll.

Earlier before the conduct of the Ekiti APC Governorship Primary, the National Leadership of the party in Abuja had adopted a Direct Primary Mode for the Ekiti State Governorship Election following serious  agitations from some of the aspirants in the race.

Despite the boycott of the entire electoral exercise by seven major gubernatorial spirants on Thursday, the primary election was widely observed to have taken place across the 177 wards of the state.

Announcing the results, the Chairman of the Electoral Panel and the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Abubakar Badaru declared Mr. Biodun Oyebanji the winner of the election.

The Chairman of the Panel said he gave equal opportunity to all the aspirants to nominate and submit 20 names each for the primary to be conducted.

He said further that he is surprised with the attitude of the aspirants. He said elections took place freely and fairly in all the 177 wards of the state.
