NFF Reveals Reasons For Retaining Austin Eguavoen-led Technical Crew

Nigeria Football Federation has revealed reasons Austin Eguavoen will remain in charge of the Super Eagles for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Ghana.

In a statement released by the communication department of the Federation, the Nigerian Football Governing announced the decision of retaining Eguaveon, following the impression performance of the Super Eagles at the just-concluded African Cup of Nations.

The NFF also rejigged the technical crew with former Tanzania coach Emmanuel Amuneke coming in, while former Flying Eagles coach, Paul Aigbogun was dropped.

“In view of the positive performance of the Super Eagles at the just-concluded Africa Cup of Nations which has given hope to Nigerians and boosted our confidence in the present coaching crew to qualify us for the World Cup in Qatar, we have decided to accept the recommendation of the Technical and Development Committee to retain the Eguavoen-led coaching crew and strengthen it with the addition of Emmanuel Amuneke,” the NFF said.

The new technical crew are expected to qualify the Super Eagles for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The Super Eagles will face Black Stars of Ghana in the playoff next month.
