No fewer than 700 people from Oyo South Senatorial district comprising nine local government areas of the state are to benefit from the empowerment programme organized by Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi Foundation.

This was disclosed at a seminar organized over the weekend to kickstart the empowerment programme for the participants ahead of the their training held at the foundation’s office at Iwo Road, Ibadan.

While flagging off the seminar, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi who was represented by the Head of the vocational training, Alhaji Hussain Akeem, said he organized the empowerment programme because of his passion to alleviate the sufferings of the downtrodden people in the society.

He stressed that his own kind of vocational programme is different from others that will last for a week or two but rather his own will run for either six months, four months or three months depending on the type of vocational training each participant has chosen so that they will go through comprehensive training necessary to equip them for the skill they have chosen.

He, however, enjoined the participants to avail themselves of the opportunity by being dedicated to the training throughout the period they will spend so that they can become self reliant and relevant to themselves and the society at large.

He added that by March 7, 2022, every participant will be attached to the nearest location to their local government where the training will take place based on the vocation they have register for.

The local government areas that will participate in the programme include, Ibadan North local government, Ibadan North East local government, Ibadan North West local government, Ibadan South East local government, Ibadan South West local government, Ido-local local government, Ibarapa East, Ibarapa North and Ibarapa Central respectively.

Some of the vocational programmes available for the participants to choose from include fashion designing, Hair dressing, Make up and head gear tying, pastry and cake making, Electrical installation, Tie & Dye, GSM repair, soap Making and others.

Hon. Bimbo Adekambi, the former Commissioner for Budget under the immediate past administration of late Governor Abiola Ajimobi is aspiring to represent the Oyo South Senatorial district in the 2023 election. He also served as the Deputy Chief of Staff to the late Governor.

Adekanmbi has for the past three years been offering over 300 free UTME forms for the youth and scholarship to any Federal university of choice for the best students among those that participated in the said UTME examination in all the nine Local governments in Ibadan and Ibarapa zone of the State.

He also recently gave bursary awards to the tune of five million naira to 120 students who are indigenes of Oyo State in all the tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

However, all Adekanmbi’s youth empowerment programmes are targeted at brilliant, but financially handicapped students with the sole objective of building a virile youth that will make positive contributions to their community and the society as a whole.
