The Association of Professional Visa Consultants of Nigeria (APVCON) has tasked the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government on need to ensure the safety of all Nigerians trapped in the Russia-Ukraine war.

In a special communique issued from Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State made available to PMParrot on Tuesday, APVCON said “we join humanity and people of good conscience across the globe to empathize with the Government and People of Ukraine over recent the multiple attacks and invasion.”

In the communique signed by the duo of Wale O-Michael (Convener) and Abdullahi Aliyu Idris (Secretary of Board of Trustees), the association also identified and sympathized with Nigerians living in Ukraine, majority of who are students and professionals in different endeavors, caught in the quagmire.

Continued the association “We condemn, in strong terms, the reported discriminatory treatment of Africans, especially people of Nigerian extraction at the borders of Ukraine trying to cross over to Poland and other neighboring states for possible safety and evacuation.

“In this climate of uncertainty, we urge the Nigeria government to intensify efforts at synergizing with the relevant embassies and agencies to protect Nigerians in Ukraine and ensure their safety in accordance with Section 2 of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

“The realities of this war and many other challenges buttress the fact that the Nigerian government needs to involve the private sectors more in migration and diaspora matters.

“We re-affirm our continued commitment to the progress, development and stability of the Nigeria-State”.
