Heavy rainstorm has caused colossal damage to some buildings and equipment worth millions of naira at the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, (BOUESTI) Ikere-Ekiti.
Inspecting the affected properties, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Olufemi Adeoluwa, described the havoc caused by the rainstorm as shocking and disastrous, adding that it was a setback for the infrastructural development of the university.
He further stated that the unfortunate incident would be officially brought to the notice of the State Government while urging for relevant assistance from well-meaning Nigerians.
Among the affected infrastructure affected include the student hostels, building housing the Directorate of Pre-degree Programmes, school of multidisciplinary studies, BOUESTI FM Radio among others.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor has ordered the immediate rehabilitation of the roofs damaged by the rainstorm in the halls of residence to bring relief to the occupants.
