Teachers under the Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) have vowed not to surrender their voter’s cards for rigging to Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, the All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in the State.

The teachers further frowned at the silent attitude of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) over the matter stating that they were ready for sack rather than surrendering their voter’s cards to be cloned.

“Our voter’s cards are our weapon to vote out the APC government in Ekiti. We are ready for victimization and sack. The action of the APC to collect peoples’ voter’s cards is an indication that the party does not believe in a free and fair election. As teachers, we know our rights to vote for the political parties and candidates of our choice.

Reacting, the Chairman of the Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Hon. Babatunde Abegunde, debunked the report stating that there is no plan by the Kayode Fayemi-led administration to clone anybody’s PVC.

Speaking further, “We do not have plan for such. You can confirm with the Area Education Officers and from SUBEB. Our government does not need teachers’ voters’ card.

In another reaction, the State chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Comrade Oke Emmanuel declared that the allegations that teachers in Ekiti State are being forced by government officials to submit their PVCs ahead of the governorship election in Ekiti State is not true.

The Ekiti NUT boss further maintained that no single teacher has been asked to submit his or her PVC in Ekiti State while urging the public to disregard the rumor.
