All You Need To Know About How Oba Balogun Was Installed As 42nd Olubadan Of Ibadanland, See Images

All roads led to Mapo Hall in the very center of Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State as the 42nd Olubadan of the city was installed by the governor of the state, Engineer ‘Seyi Makinde.

The event which was witnessed by the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, APC presidential aspirant Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the creamiest Nigerians was filled with glamour.

Others who were at the epochal event included Dr Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti); Prince Dapo Abiodun (Ogun); Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi and Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Orangun of Oke Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolaring among others.

Also at the presentation ceremony were: Ex-Governors Rashidi Ladoja (Oyo), Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo), Deputy Governors Murphy Ayedatiwa (Ondo) and Benedict Alabi (Osun).

The event was equally witnessed by security operatives who ensured that all went well.

Major places like Iwo Road, Iyana-Church, Agodi, Gate, Mokola, Ojoo, Beere, Dugbe and all adjourning routes that lead to Mapo had security operatives stationed in strategic places.

Guest started arriving the venue as early as 7am with security operatives having a tough time enforcing law and order at the venue.

Osinbajo arrived by 11:05am with Governor Makinde and other dignitaries, signaling official commencement of the event.

Different drummers are showing skills trying to outperform one another with many traditional and social cultural groups on hand in various colorful outfits to celebrate the occasion.

Intermittent gunshots from local hunters and groups rented the air.

Markets, shops and businesses in the axis were closed in solidarity with the new monarch.

The high point of the event was the reading of the CV of the politician-turned monarch.

While reading his speech, Governor ‘Seyi Makinde implored the new Olubadan to rule with the fear of God urging him to truly be the father of all Ibadan people irrespective of their political or religious affiliations.
