The Provost of Adeyemi College of Education Ondo, Dr. Samuel Akintunde, has attributed the presence of good management team in the college as one of the factors responsible for the laudable achievements recorded in the institution.
Dr. Akintunde stated this during the conferment of fellowship award bestowed on him by a Non- Government Organisation (NGO) ‘The Better Nigeria in Practice (BNIP),’ held at the institution recently.
Speaking, the South-West Nigeria Coordinator of the organization, Mr. Bamidele Olanrewaju, revealed that the body decided to honor Dr. Akintunde in recognition of his visionary approach to administrative functions and contemporary approach to management principles in the educational sector.
He further stated that the achievements recorded by students of the institution in competitions in which a student of the college won the first position in an Art competition among tertiary institutions in Enugu State and the recent upgrade of the institution from a College to a University of Education during his tenure was also considered as a laudable achievement.
Olarewaju further explained that the conferment of the fellowship award on the provost, which represents the first phase of the award presentation exercise, would be followed with investiture and delivery of public lecture on the theme: ‘The role of Agriculture in the sustenance of Nigeria economy’ scheduled to hold on 12 April, 2022 in Abuja.
Responding, Dr. Akintunde appreciated the leadership of the organization for considering him for the award, while lauding the efforts of the college management for their cooperation and support, stating that achievements recorded in the institution during this tenure could not have been possible without their efforts.
He said, “I thank God for all you said you have seen in this college, but the truth is that we would not have attained this level if not for the team we have on ground here. I can vouch for you that if I am not around, the business of government will continue because I have able lieutenants working with me here in the college”.
