A member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II at the National Assembly in Abuja, Honourable Omowunmi Ogunlola has commissioned two major projects and empowered over 700 unemployed youths and artisans in her constituency as part of her efforts and contributions to impart lives positively. 

She commissioning the first project at Ejiyan Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area of the state and named as Erelu Bisi Fayemi Comprehensive Health Centre, in honour of the wife of the Governor of Ekiti State, Erelu Bisi – Adeleye Fayemi.

The donor, Honourable Omowunmi Ogunlola said the project was in appreciation to the Ekiti Governor and his wife’s support for her as a Member of the House of Representatives representing the Federal Constituency in Abuja.

Ogunlola during the commissioning of the health facility at Ejiyan Ekiti charged the community to make use and maintain the facility to the benefit of their people’s health needs. She went on to commend Erelu Bisi Fayemi for her roles and initiatives for women in Ekiti State being copied by other first ladies in other states of the country.

Also, while commissioning another project at Ijero High School in Ijero Ekiti, an Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Centre built by her for the students of the School to learn, she stated, that the ICT Centre is part of her contributions to her Constituency with a view to helping the students improve in their studies and conform with the changes in Technology in the world. The ICT Centre is equipped with 50 laptops for the Students of the School.

At the centre of Ijero Ekiti town, Honourable Omowunmi Ogunlola who was joined by the wife of the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Erelu Bisi Fayemi; the former State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, High Chief Olajide Awe, leaders of the APC, Community people and other dignitaries from all walks of life gave out several cash gifts and items to empower over 700 unemployed youths and artisans drawn from Ijero Ekiti, Ekiti West and Efon Local Government Areas which makes up her Federal Constituency.

Among empowerment materials distributed at the venue of the empowerment programme included ten Vehicles, several Motorcycles, Deep freezers, sewing machines, grinding machines, hair drier machines, electricity generating sets, Cassava processing machines, among others.

The lawmaker while speaking with newsmen said her decision to embark on the empowerment was borne out of her desires to give back to her constituents and uplift their living standards.

At the empowerment programme,100 Petty traders smiled home with fifty thousand naira each, 100 Aged Persons were given 20,000 naira each, also 100 widows were given 25,000 naira each, 100 Students were given bursary awards, 33 women leaders went home with deep freezers, while traditional rulers in the constituency were given one electricity generating sets each.
