Following the defection of Hon. Idowu Afuye, the deputy gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Erelu Kemi Elebute Halle has stated that the party has not been officially informed of the development.
Hon. Afuye had on Thursday officially decamped to APC, revealing that ADP is not a formidable party within the state.
He further accused the party’s governorship candidate of running a one man show which is inimical to the interest of the party’s stakeholders.
Reacting, Mrs Halle stated “We have not officially received any letter in the party that he is going to decamp. There are electoral procedures to take if somebody in such a position is going to decamp to another party. It is anti party if he really did that.
Speaking further, “If he does not know how party politics is played, he should ask. He needs to know that he should officially resign from the party. His name is already registered with INEC. He should do the proper thing if truly he is decamping”.
Addressing a press conference in Ado Ekiti on Friday, Erelu Elebute-Halle insisted that Afuye remains the Deputy Governorship candidate of the party according to the electoral act.
She alleged that though Afuye had not briefed her about his exit, while affirming that he is not a sincere personality.
The ADP flagbearer further denied the allegation that she was working for another party, claiming that she was in the race to win.
She, however, noted that she has invested more time and risk beyond stepping down vowing to take many supporters of APC by surprise.
