I Didn’t Snub Super Eagles’ Invitation, I’m Committed –  Uzoho

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho has dispelled insinuations that he won’t be available for the senior national team games for now.

Uzoho who was in goal in both 2022 World Cup playoffs games with the Black Stars of Ghana in March was not considered for a call up for the Eagles upcoming friendly games with Mexico and Ecuador fixed for May 29th  and June 2nd  in the United States.

There were reports in the media that the former FIFA U-17 World Cup winner with the Golden Eaglets in the United Arab Emirates in 2013 that the goaltender does not want to welcome any invitation from the Eagles for the foreseeable future.

But the Omonia Nicosia of Cyprus goalie told an official of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that: “I’m committed to playing for my dear country anytime I’m called up.”

Uzoho is not in the frame for the two friendly games in the United States and may not be part of the two 2023 AFCON Qualifying games with Sierra Leone and Mauritius next month.

He was blamed for the first half goal conceded by the Eagles against Ghana in March in Abuja after he was unable stop a long range effort from Thomas Partey. The goal later threw the Eagles out of the 2022 World Cup.
