Curbing Insecurity: NASFAT Urges Government To Install CCTVs

The Nasrul-Lahl-L-Faith Society, NASFAT, has charged the Nigerian government to install  CCTV cameras in public places in order to check and tackle the rising insecurity in the country.

The Muslim organization stated this during a press conference held recently to mark the activities for the seventh Biennial Women’s conference held recently in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

Speaking, the NASFAT National Women Affairs Secretary, Mrs. Suweebah Bola Kupolati urged government at all levels to use the right economic method in order to lift the nation out of its economic and security dangers.

Kupolati further charged women and children to ensure that they are not at the receiving end of drug abuse, kidnapping stating that NASFAT Women organization has been speaking against the rising cases of violence among women and children.

“We all know that this government has done well in the area of insecurity, but the bulk of this problem is as a result of unemployment. Government must provide jobs for our youths to reduce drug abuse and kidnapping.

“NASFAT has been partnering government to empower our youth. Those who are self-employed have been given money to expand their businesses. We donated over N5m to widows across various locations last year”.

Kupolati further stated that the body backed the proposal by Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu that Close Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV) should be installed at all religious centres to ward off senseless attacks.

She said, “NASFAT is totally in support of CCTVs being planted in faith-based areas. The government shouldn’t just stop at that, they should do same in public places to safeguard the lives and property of our citizens”.

Reeling out what NASFAT had done to fight poverty, she said “We have given out about N380 million to different groups and populace to alleviate poverty. We gave out N70m during COVID to help Nigerians and have also given out scholarships to sponsor youths for their university education and for medical treatment of poor Nigerians”.

The association, however, charged government to commit huge investment to job creation and technological innovation in order to curb the challenges of kidnapping, killings and drug abuse.
