Osun Guber: Thirteen Political Parties Sign Peace Accord, Pledge To Accept Election Outcome

Thirteen political parties contesting in Osun State have signed a peace accord while promising to accept the outcome of the Saturday’s gubernatorial election.

The event, which was organized by the National Peace Committee for the Governorship candidates in the state while seeking to ensure a credible and peaceful election in Nigeria.

Speaking at the event in Osogbo, Bishop Matthew Kukah urged all parties participating in the election, INEC and other stakeholders to ensure that the election is peaceful, free and fair.

He further said, “Nigerians are desperately in need of a peaceful environment hence the need to encourage political actors to think towards peace”.

Speaking further, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu further appealed to all candidates to respect the peace accord while commending the organizers for the laudable action.

“I wish to reiterate our commitment to transparent and credible elections in Nigeria; the commission has taken every step to ensure that a credible governorship election is conducted in Osun state this weekend”

Speaking further, the Governor of the state, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola described the state as a peaceful state while urging all candidates and parties’ stakeholders to shun electoral violence before and after the conduct of the election.
