Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen was mobbed by fans outside the Carciato pitch where Napoli held their training session on Saturday.
The fans created scenes of panic beyond the barriers when the Nigeria international came out to sign the autographs. According to Kiss Kiss Napoli, Osimhen was very frightened by the crowds present when he approached the barriers.
Adults surrounded the 23-year-old and it was reported that they displayed more unruly behaviour than the children at the training ground.
It would have been appropriate were the children left to share the moment with the football star. However, as evidenced in the official radio channel of Kiss Kiss Napoli, the adults ruined the moment for the kids.
Osimhen had been linked with an exit from Napoli when the transfer window opened. However, the 23-year-old is now expected to stay at Naples following the lack of offers matching the €100m price tag set by Partenopei from reputable clubs.
Newcastle dared to match the bid but Osimhen was not interested in a move to a club of lower standing that can’t promise Champions League football.
The forward scored a goal in Napoli’s 10-0 win over Anaune making it the second 10-0 game of the year that the striker has scored in. Osimhen had earlier scored four goals in the Super Eagles’ 10-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers in June.
