Super Eagles’ star, Wilfred Ndidi rejoined his teammates in training on Friday as they prepare to take on Derby County in a friendly.

The 25-year-old Nigerian who twisted his ankle during Leicester’s training camp in Evian – a setback that saw him miss the Foxes’ last two test matches against OH Leuven and Hull City was listed in the 20-man squad for the encounter.

According to a video posted on Twitter by Leicester City, Ndidi was seen put through his paces as they gear up for their next friendlies.

Assistant manager Chris Davies will oversee the team against Derby while Brendan Rodgers will take another squad to Deepdale to tackle Preston the same day.

The defensive midfielder missed the final 16 games of the season in all competitions after undergoing surgery on the medial ligament in his knee.

“Wilf’s is okay now but we need to monitor him well,” Brendan Rodgers told LCFC TV.

“Pre-season’s about fitness, but I think we’re getting to the stage now, as we edge closer to the start of the season, where we need to instill this winning mentality and take confident performances into the start of the season.”

Following Saturday’s action, the Foxes will then host Sevilla at King Power Stadium next Sunday before their Premier League opener against Brentford at King Power Stadium on August 7.

Rodgers will hope Ndidi will be ready for action when the Foxes kick off their league campaign with a home game.
