Honourable Yetunde Dorcas Bamigboye, one of late Chief Bola Ige’s close political associates who turned 95 on Thursday has called out President Muhammadu Buhari to help salvage Nigerian education sector.

Mama Bamigboye who made this call while speaking with PMParrot to mark her birthday begged President Buhari to “help us before you leave this stage as President (of Nigeria) so that our children will be so educated and ready to help improve the country.”

While speaking earlier, she recalled how easy it was for her and others who were members of the Old Oyo State House of Assembly during the regime of Governor Bola Ige to achieve so much while representing their people from different parts of the state.

“I represented my people from Ifelodun East II State Constituency at the then House of Assembly. We were all so focused on how to make life easy for our people. I know I did my best to contribute to the construction of Ada, Igbajo and other roads in my constituency. We also ensured the provision of electricity.”

Mama Bamigboye was born on August 18, 1933. She attended Baptist Day School, Idikan, Ibadan before moving to Baptist School, Igbajo for her secondary education between 1942 and 1945. She later proceeded to Baptist Teachers’ Training College, Idi Aba in Abeokuta.

The mother of three later got a scholarship and she traveled out to the United States of America where she attended Virginia Union University, Richmond to acquire her first degree. She later attended Washington University and Catholic University in Washington too for her Masters’ degree.

After returning to Nigeria, she taught at several schools and later got to attain the position of Principal and she worked in several secondary schools before she retired in 1976 to join politics. She said that her monthly pension today is N34,000!
