The gubernatorial candidate of Accord in Oyo State in the fast approaching 2023 elections, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has pronounced that the ambition of Mogaji Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe in 2019 to govern the state was never endorsed by the then governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

Adelabu made this submission on Sunday while featuring on a radio show broadcast live on Fresh 105.9fm from Ibadan, the capital city of the state.

The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) added that the information about Ajimobi’s support for Tegbe was being spread by loyalists of the Mogaji in the late former governor’s cabinet.

Hear Adelabu “Those peddling the rumour that Ajimobi endorsed Tegbe were those close to him in his government. For those who do not know, let me say it here that Ajimobi knew of my gubernatorial ambition about one or two months after he was sworn in for a second term.

“I will add here that my resignation letter from the CBN was perused by Ajimobi just as if we wrote it together. He said he saw traits of his personality in me. I was his candidate.

“And for those saying Tegbe was Ajimobi’s candidate, they really need to ask themselves one question – why did Ajimobi not hand over the ticket to Tegbe if, indeed, he was the anointed? Adebayo Adelabu did not do anything special for Ajimobi.”

The hospitality industry kingpin also took time to speak about what he plans to do differently when and if he becomes the governor of Oyo State in 2023.

His words “We are going to make a lot of difference. We will ensure power supply is transformed using PPP. We have dealt with the issue of insecurity before. We will do more. We have the experience. We have the talent, by God’s grace we are young with sound health and we are vibrant too.

He also added that the people of Oyo State should follow the gubernatorial candidate that knows ‘the road’.

The radio show was anchored by veteran broadcaster, Chief Abolade Salami.
