The demise of the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye has been announced. He was aged 66.
Afuye, who represented Ikere constituency 1, died on Wednesday evening after a brief illness.
Afuye appeared at the inauguration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, on Sunday and was said to have also attended plenary on Tuesday before the sudden turn of events on Wednesday.
A source in Ado Ekiti informed PMParrot that the Speaker has had issues with his health over time.
Said our source “even on the day the new governor was inaugurated, he kept mostly to himself without moving around too much.”
The new Ekiti State government under Mr Biodun Oyebanji was said to be too confused and saddened by the sudden demise of the lawyer-turned politician to react for now.
