Spartak Moscow winger, Victor Moses, looks set to return to full training in the next two weeks.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner has not played competitively for the Muscovites since August 2022 after suffering an achilles tendon injury during the club’s 2-0 win against Ural.

But the former Chelsea star has since made good progress recovering from his injury and was named in Spartak Moscow’s squad for a training camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, though he didn’t take part in any of their preparatory games.

Spartak Moscow who face city rivals, Locomotiv Moscow in the Russian Cup first leg on Wednesday (today) have done fantastically well without Moses as they are sitting second in the league table.

Speaking ahead of the game, Moses, “When you have an Achilles injury like this, it normally takes time, six to seven months, to get yourself back into your normal rhythm.

“I’m working so hard to get back into full fitness, started to do a little bit with the team now, but hopefully maybe in about two weeks or so I should start a full session with the team.

“It’s just a matter of process, I just get to take it each day as it comes and the only way I can obviously overcome this is by working hard everyday, and to try and make sure I can get as fit as possible to come back and join the team fully.”

Moses scored two goals in the opening three matches before he suffered the worst injury in his career.
