A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Council Research Strategy and Policy and Director, Strategy and Media for Teslim/Tinubu Campaign in Oyo State, Dr. Abisoye Fagade has picked the the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin to win March 11 election in the state.

He said that Senator Folarin has a brighter chance to win ahead of other candidates.

Dr. Fagade, a media practitioner, disclosed this over the weekend while analyzing the outcome of the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections and March 11 governorship and House of Assembly elections.

He emphasized that APC candidate, Teslim Folarin, apart from the fact that he ran the best campaign; the party is going to the March 11 governorship election with three senators and nine House Representatives members.

According to him, “we have a very bright chance, we have all the three senatorial districts, we have nine House of Representatives, so what other chances do you think we need to win the election?

“Our candidate ran one of the best campaign in the state, our candidate is the one that woke every other candidates up to start running a good campaign and everywhere we have gone to crowd always showed him love, we’ve not got to any campaign and people start stoning us, or stabbed us, or attacking us or killing our people, that is not the case with others, so how else do you want people to show love to us.

“People will paint others black than Lucifer to get what they want but it’s obvious that people are not willing to go with a betrayal anymore. They are tired of people who will renege on agreement. They are ready to follow the party from the top to the bottom, so why would somebody want to disconnect Oyo state from the centre, that would be unfair.

“So, come March 11 you will see how people will be thump-printing for APC in the state because it’s not just personality anymore, it’s about everything that surrounds the personality. Who are you surrounded with, sycophants or people that think deeply before any action, these among other factors will determine the outcome of the governorship election in the state.”

Speaking on the expectation of Nigerians from the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, Dr. Fagade, maintained that he supported the former Lagos State governor because of his vision for Nigeria. He added that he is expecting the President-elect to hit the ground running in the next few months.

“For me the reason why I supported Asiwaju is because he is a man that is clear about his vision, he knows what he’s doing, so, we should be expecting a man that will hit the ground running, we’ll see the effect of Asiwaju/Shetima in the next few months, we would see the different within the first three months in office, I’m not saying the country will change overnight, but we will begin to see some things that will make us say this is the country I want to stay.”

In his reaction to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi’s decision to challenge the election results in the tribunal, Dr. Fagade said that their decision is good and it is the beauty of democracy.

“How credible can elections be? When you lose at your base, everybody can say they win elections, it is their opinion but right now what the process and the procedure of this country says is that whoever has the certificate of return and declared winner of the election by INEC is the authentic winner of such elections, and certificate of return has been given to Asiwaju in the presence of everybody, and in every contest, every elections, or even in every competition there will always be a winner and people will always be aggrieved and that is why the court is there.

“In fact I’m happy one of the candidates said that he likes the judiciary and that he always wins there, so they should go to the judiciary and iron out their grievances.”

While advising the youth to put their future in their hands, Dr. Fagade said that it is time for them to put structure in place to elect the leadership of their choice ahead of the next dispensation.

“My advice to the youths is so simple, I know we’ve been disappointed, we’ve been let down by a lot of people but more than ever I’m happy with the kind of movement that happened at the general elections, but my advice to them now is that with all these done at this time this is a time to start planning for the next four years, don’t just make all these noise and let it die down and come up after four years.

“It is obvious that when people were saying they lack structure they mean it, that actually played out, those people saying there is no structure really understand what they were saying because there were some polling units that don’t even have LP agents, this is a time to start building that structure from ward to ward, it is a lot of work and lots of money. The youths should also work hard to make sure they put that structure in place and then they can elect the next president based on how they feel because the guys that are in the corridor of power right now have really worked hard for it,” Dr. Fagade said.
