Our People Have So Many Reasons To Re-Elect Makinde- Hon. Sikiru Sanda, Oyo ALGON Boss

The Chairman of Egbeda Local Government area in Oyo State, Hon. Sikiru Sanda has emphatically stated that the re-election bid of the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde is sacrosanct for consolidation, sustainability and progress of the State.

Hon. Sanda, who is also the Chairman of the Oyo State chapter of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), disclosed this while featuring on Parrot Xtra Media Network’s interview programme, Ayekooto on Radio anchored by Olayinka Agboola on Tuesday on Splash FM, Ibadan.

The Council boss said that Governor Makinde’s achievements in the last three and half years are unprecedented in the history of Oyo State, saying that it has surpassed what the past administration did for eight years.

Hon. Sanda stated that Governor Makinde is the only governor in the history of Oyo State that has not reneged in his electioneering promises to the civil servants and retirees in the payment of salary, pension, gratuity and other benefits for the past 42 months.

He emphasized that the track record of achievements of the present administration, in addition with the populace ideology of Governor Makinde, is the reason why many political parties are day-by-day collapsing their structures and many groups openly declaring their support for the re-election bid of the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP), Engr. Seyi Makinde in the March 18, 2023 gubernatorial election.

The ALGON Chairman maintained that Oyo State governor is the only governor in Nigeria that his approach in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic received commendations from all and sundry, adding that many state governors and federal government followed his initiatives.

In his reaction to the jingle making the rounds that some groups of people in the PDP have decamped to another party, Hon. Sanda, stated that the move was a political strategy aiming to distract the party and the people of the state.

He added that Nigeria’s constitution allows anybody to move from one party to another because there is freedom of association, he, however, noted that there is no movement that can stop Governor Seyi Makinde’s re-election.

Speaking on his achievements so far, the Chairman of Egbeda Local Government said that he has been able to complement the efforts of the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde at the grassroots level by replicating his policies towards improving the standard of living of the people through provision of transformers, boreholes and upgrading of some rural roads.

He clarified that the stand of Governor Seyi Makinde on the proposed autonomy for local governments is beyond financial, Hon. Sanda revealed that the governor is in support of all encompassing and holistic autonomy for local government rather than autonomy based on mere financial matters.

The Council boss, therefore, enjoined the people of Oyo State to come out en masse on Saturday March 18, 2023 to reciprocate the good gesture of Governor Seyi Makinde by massively voting for him to continue and consolidate on the good work he has started in the state.
