Akande, who served as the chairman of the occasion, would be giving N100,000 to each of the 10 scholarship laureates of the club drawn each year for the next 10 years.

The laureates are annually drawn from the nation’s universities through a competitive examination.

The club was established in 1980 to foster good relationship between members and contribute to the socio-economic development of Ibadanland.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Professor Akande explained that he identified with the lofty scholarship programme of the Ajorosun Club.

He said youths across the country are facing enormous challenges in their educational and entrepreneurship pursuits.

The former NCC chairman also added that any organisation that commits itself to ameliorating the problems deserved the collaboration of well-meaning citizens.

Akande described Ajorosun Club as one of the foremost socio-cultural groups in Ibadanland and Oyo State.

He also stated that the contributions of the club to the development of Ibadanland over the years are enormous.
