Robbers have attacked several travellers stranded on the Benin-Akure highway and the Ipele/Idoani/Isua/Kabba highway in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Many of the travelers were said to have been robbed of their valuables and some had to take motorcycle to cross through bush paths to the other side of the road.

It was gathered the diversion of traffic from the failed portion of the Ekpoma-Abuja-Okene highway exerted pressure on the Benin-Akure highway and some parts got destroyed due to heavy rains.

Chairman of Ose Local Government area, Hon Dennis Adekunle, who confirmed the robbery attack, said he has written to the Ondo State Government for urgent repair work on the road.

Adekunle said the quarry he approached for help declined because the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) might sue it for interference.
