Nigeria international and Watford goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye is set to join Italian Serie A club, Udinese on a season-long loan deal from the English Championship club.

The 23-year-old shot-stopper was the best player at Sparta Rotterdam for two consecutive seasons before Watford swooped in for him last summer.

But Okoye endured a disappointing first season at Vicarage Road.

Unfortunately, the Nigerian goalie failed to inspire confidence at the club and had to watch from the bench throughout the season with just two appearances for the Hornets last season.

Still, his future at Vicarage Road looks bleak and now looks set to leave Watford to get playing time elsewhere.

He becomes the fourth Nigerian to switched to Udinese from Watford, after strikers, Odion Ighalo and Isaac Success, and defender William Troost-Ekong.

Watford and Udinese have a good relationship, as the Pozzo family owns both clubs. This relationship has allowed for the seamless switch of numerous players between both clubs.

Okoye would hope that the deal works out and he wins the heart of Udinese manager Andrea Sottil and get some minutes under his belt.
