89 Bag First Class As UNIOSUN Holds Combined Convocation Ceremonies

About 4,210 students are now ready to pass out from the Osun State University at the combined convocation ceremonies of the institution with 89 of the students’ graduating in the first class category.

The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Odunayo Adebooye, revealed this during a press conference held on Friday at the institution’s main campus in Osogbo.

It is on record that the press conference marked the commencement of the combined 12th and 13th convocation ceremonies for the 2021/2022 and 2023/2023 final year students of the school.

The Vice Chancellor revealed that a total of 4,210 degrees and diplomas are to be awarded to the graduating students of the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic sessions.

He further revealed that 3,959 students will be awarded for their first degrees, 229 master degrees, 13 doctoral degrees and 09 postgraduate diplomas respectively.

Professor Adebooye also stated that 89 students bagged first class, while 1, 326 students graduated in the Second Class (upper division), 1,818 in the second class (lower division), 470 in the third class category among others.

The VC, however, expressed the readiness and commitment of the university management to the development of the school while affirming that they are committed to achieving them in the years to come.

He said, “I am very happy to inform our stakeholders that we are consistently poised to take the continental lead in academic excellence and global visibility for relevance and impact.

“We are strongly committed to our vision and founding objectives as a responsible and highly responsive 21st-century university. Our targets are clear, and our strategies are well defined, we want to be among the top 10 Universities in Nigeria and emerge in the top 25 in Africa by 2026.”

The varsity helmsman, however, added that the grand finale of the convocation which will be held on 28th September, and will be presided over by the Executive Governor of Osun State and Visitor to the University, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

The VC added that the University’s Chancellor, Apostle (Dr) Folorunsho Alakija, will also be in attendance at the ceremony.
