    The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Mahood Olalekan Balogun has been speaking about the day he was shot in the stomach by armed robbers.

    He has also revealed that he is grateful to God because whatever he wishes for, God has granted him more.

    Speaking at a press briefing ahead of his 81th birthday, Oba Balogun said “what is it that I wanted from God that He has not done for me?

    “I wanted to be the head of Alli Iwo which is under the Olubadan and he did it for me, I wanted to be the King of Itu-taba which is still under Olubadan and this was also made possible and finally, He made be became the Olubadan.

    “I will always thank God for the rest of my life because whatever I wanted from God, He has been doing it and I believe that he will still continue till the end of my life.”

    Speaking further, Oba Balogun, who is a former Senator of the Federal republic of Nigeria, said for him to be of this age, it is only God who has been there for him since.

    “I can remember the time I was attacked by armed robbers at Challenge area and I was shot in the stomach. I was operated upon and I still carry the scare till today.

    “I could have died that day but for God’s mercy and I will forever be grateful,” Oba Balogun said.

    On his aspiration for Ibadanland, Oba Balogun said he is looking forward to more growth for the ancient city.
