Ekiti State All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders’ Forum has reflected on the one year of the Biodun Oyebanji administration,  saying the governor has lived to expectation.

The group praised the governor and his deputy, Mrs. Monisade Afuye, for their giant strides.

The Forum said it was impressed by the lofty programmes, infrastructural development, welfarist policy and improved synergy with the people by the Oyebanji government.

A statement by its Chairman, Prof. Muyiwa Igbalajobi, and Secretary, Babatunde Odetola, praised the administration for regular payment of salary, noting: “During this one year,  salaries, allowances and gratuities are paid before the end of every month. This has improved workers’ attitude to governance and positive relationship between the workers and the government.”

The statement said: “During one year, Governor Oyebanji has approved and appointed over 3,000 primary and secondary school teachers to fill vacant positions in primary and secondary schools. This has reduced unemployment. The appointment is aimed at improving educational standard in Ekiti State.

“The government within one year has embarked on road building and rehabilitation throughout the local governments. Township roads such as Ado-Ekiti, Ijero, Ikole and others have improved, to facilitate free movement.

“The arms of government, namely the Legislature, Executive and Judiciary during this one year in Ekiti State have enjoyed positive relationship and this has brought good governance to the doorsteps of everybody in Ekiti State.

“The Oyebanji administration has rolled out palliatives in Ekiti State in form of rice distribution, free bus services and financial benefit to the widows, elderly and civil servants in Ekiti State. This is aimed at reducing financial problems of the people as a result of removal of oil subsidy.”

“The Forum is impressed by the positive administrative style of Governor Oyebanji within one year in Ekiti State. This has assisted APC to enjoy massive support from groups such as Okada riders, motor drivers and women groups, who have shown interest and made the government of Ekiti State very popular.

“This has made many people to join APC. For example, over 1,000 PDP, SDP and AA members in Efon Local Government have joined APC this month.

“It is the prayer of the Forum that God will grant His Excellency the needed wisdom to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of Ekiti State throughout his tenure and govern the state in alignment with the dreams of the founding fathers.”
