The Deputy Managing Director (Retail North) of Access Bank Plc., Mr Victor O. Etuokwu has charged all Nigerians to be the change that everybody is clamoring to see.

He said he was optimistic that our economy could be revived, adding that each and every one has a role to play.

Mr Etuokwu, who spoke at his decoration as a UI@75 Ambassador in Lagos, said universities should be a tool to mold and build minds that could turn the society and the economy around to ensure national development

He commended the University of Ibadan for having played the lead role in the last 75 years to produce leaders of the economy and governance in Nigeria and globally.

He said he was happy to be part of the UI story and promised to ensure that UI continues to be a beacon of hope, a citadel of learning dedicated to grooming leaders.

    Honoured

Mr Etuokwu, who recalled that he left UI in 1990, said his father before him was another great alumnus, having studied Classics in the University of Ibadan between 1958 and 1962. He said he was doubly honoured to belong to such an institution and to be found worthy to be decorated as a UI@75 Ambassador.

The Vice-Chancellor,  Professor Kayode O. Adebowale,  said the University had identified its alumni and, having considered Mr Etuokwu’s impact and the trajectory of his achievements, found him worthy to be designated a UI@75 Ambassador.

The Chairman of the UI@75 Anniversary Committee,  Professor Peter O. Olapegba  recounted the proposed thematic projects and urged  Mr Etuokwu to leverage his associates to raise funds for UI.

Mr  Etuokwu was supported to receive the award by his colleagues, several of whom are also alumni of UI.
