We’ll Remain Committed To Pensioners/Elderly Citizens’ Welfare – Oyebanji

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has restated the commitment of his administration to the welfare of pensioners and other elderly citizens in the state.

The Governor gave the assurance in Ado-Ekiti during the  end of the year annual program and the 4th Induction into the Blue Cap Category organized by the Ekiti State Council of Elders.

Oyebanji who was represented the State  Head of Service , Engr Sunday Komolafe felicitated with the members of the  council on  the celebration of  the year 2023 end of year activities .

While congratulating  the new inductees for attaining the octogenarian and blue cap status the Governor  urged members of the council  to always monitor  their health status, and take good care of themselves promising  that his administration would continue come up with programmes and policies  that would favour the elderly and all segments of the society.

Earlier in welcome address, the President of the Ekiti State Council of Elders, Professor Joseph Oluwasanmi explained that the year 2023 celebrations was a way of renewing members faith as one big family based on the objectives of the council which include:  strengthening of the unique Ekiti identity and core values; promoting lasting peace and growth of the state as well as helping to reorientate the youths towards acquiring functional education, amongst others.

High point of the event was the fellowship award and induction of some notable Ekiti elders mostly septuagenarians, octogenarians and nonagenarian into the Blue Cap Category among whom were the Grand Imam and President General, League of Imams and Alfas Southern Nigeria,Dr.Jamiu Kewulere; pioneer Ekiti State Deputy Governor,Chief Paul Alabi ; Chief Olagbemi Sola; Mrs Ibiyinka Ojo and Mrs Grace Ajakaye.

Other side attractions include the dedication of the wellness centre which was named after the President of the Council,Professor Joseph Oluwasanmi and the main Hall which was named after late Dorcas Aina Fayemi,mother of the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State,Dr Kayode Fayemi.
