Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN Commission) has likened the demise of the Ondo State’s Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN to a dagger being plunged into the ‘South West’s heart’.
In a reaction to the news of the death of the foremost lawyer on Wednesday morning, the Commission insisted that Akeredolu’s departure will be sorely felt and the vacuum he left may not be too easy to fill.
Said the DAWN Commission in a statement from the office of its Director General, Dr Seye Oyeleye “we are going to really miss Arakunrin Akeredolu and the reason is not farfetched – he is one of the leaders of the South West that is genuinely interested in what we do at the Commission.
“I can say it without the fear of contradiction that he knows everything, absolutely everything about us and what we do at DAWN Commission. He was with us when we were inaugurated by the then South West governors even though he was not yet a governor then. He was doing his very best for us in his private capacity. We will definitely miss him.
“We are consoled even though our hearts are heavy in the South West Nigeria, darkness has enveloped the land at this moment, but the darkest part of the night is when dawn is about to break, Aketi has left but his legacies will live with us forever; from his ashes, our Region, indeed the Nigeria he desired in his lifetime will surely rise. Rest in Peace Rotimi Odunayo Akeredolu…you will be sorely missed”.
