It is no more news that Veteran gospel musician, Evangelist (Dr) Bola Are has marked the 50th anniversary of her being divinely called to sing God’s gospel.

However, while preparing for the program which was held at the prestigious Jogor Event Center in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, the velvet-voiced singer also took time to speak about the day she was most embarrassed.

While narrating the experience that led to her most embarrassing moment, she revealed, “One fateful day, my drummers and instrumentalists came to my house after my husband had left for an occasion demanding that I should hand over all the instruments to them that they weren’t interested in working with me again.

“That day, I cried thinking all hope was gone but God intervened through a good Samaritan at a function, when he saw that our instruments were not up to measure while playing. Immediately, he asked me to meet him on a Monday morning and he gave me five hundred thousand naira to purchase another set of instruments. That incident turned our embarrassment to testimony”.

Dr Are gave these submissions while featuring on a weekly radio show, ‘Parrot Xtra/Ayekooto on Radio’ anchored by Olayinka Agboola and broadcast live on Splash 105.5FM, Felele Ibadan.

She also took time to recall some of her other experiences in the past 50 years.

Her words: “Before I got married, a lot of suitors came. One even said he would commit suicide if I didn’t marry him. He tried to entice me with a brand new Volkswagen car.

“However, I was able to resist his advance through the efforts of my spiritual father, Prophet Joshua and General Adebayo Adeyinka who threatened him with soldiers. Two months later, we discovered that the same man had impregnated another woman in Ile- Ife and was married to her”.

The gospel musician added that God used her song ‘Baba ku ise’ that was released in August 1977 to deliver a pregnant woman who was unable to give birth after four years of hard labour in Alapere, Ketu in Lagos.

Meanwhile, Mama Bola Are has been full of gratitude to all those who contributed directly and indirectly to her 50th Anniversary on stage that she celebrated on December 14, 2023 at the Jogor Center in Ibadan.

She revealed that the celebration was meant to celebrate God’s faithfulness in her life and ministry.

Some of the notable gospel musicians who honoured her with their presence included Joseph Adelakun Ayewa, Senwele Jesu, Woli Agba, Kemi Rehoboth and her husband, Pastor Bola Oyediran.
