A notorious drug peddler in Ondo State, Simeon Matthew, has been arrested by operatives of the Amotekun Corps for alleged drug peddling and armed robbery.

Simeon was arrested one week after he was released from prison after serving jail term.

He was among 29 suspects paraded by the Amotekun Corps.

Commander of the Ondo Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, said Simeon was arrested for the same offence he was earlier convicted of.

Adeleye said the security outfit had lived up to its promise that there would not be any nature of bank robbery in the state throughout the last four months of the year.

He said the Police, Civil Defence, DSS and other security agencies worked in synergy to ensure safety of lives and property was not compromised.

“The ‘ember’ patrol is still ongoing. In the last one week, we were able to arrest 29 suspects that were involved in forms of security breaches ranging from kidnapping to armed robbery, house breaking, shop breaking, stealing of Okada. There is a particular suspect that left the correctional centre less than a week and went into the crime again, burglary.

“In the same way, those that were involved in illegal possession of firearms on our watch list in the last five months; we were able to apprehend some of them with locally made guns and pistols.”

Speaking on the reported attack in some communities in the state by bandits, Adeleye said there were no major cases of security breaches that his men did not rise up to curtail.

He said the state remained the safest.

Adeleye said the fake news was a cheap blackmail orchestrated by enemies of progress of the state with a view to discrediting the corps.

“We will continue to serve our people and provide quality security services we are reputed for. It was what all we know that the 18 local governments in Ondo State are safe from these criminal activities. We refuse to be distracted by the mischiefs makers, who are determined to undermine the integrity of Amotekun.”
