The annual Ikoyi Club 1938 Easter Holiday Junior Tennis Clinic starts on Tuesday at the tennis courts of the elite club.
Tennis players of club members are expected to be on parade between April 2 and April 6 for this event sponsored by Leadway Assurance.
Captain of the Tennis section, Azubuike Okonkwo, told newsmen at the weekend that all was set for the Easter fiesta tennis Clinic/ Tournament.
Okonkwo stated that the kids participating in this competition would have so much fun in this edition.
“We are excited the kids would be coming together to learn about the game while they will also enter into competition towards the end to round off the clinic,” the captain said.
Assistant Head Coach, Christian Agbim, said that the Tennis Section Chairman, Diran Famakinwa, is so passionate about this clinic for the kids.
Agbim said all the coaches were set to give the kids the current rudiments in the game.
In this edition which is the 6th in the series, the kids will be competing in four different categories in the boys and girls cadre respectively.
There will be clinic and tournament for 5-7 year-old boys and girls, 8-10 year-old boys and girls, 11-13 year-old boys and girls and 14-16 year-old boys and girls.
Lady Captain, Mrs. Oluwawemimo Ogunsanya, said the event would produce future champions for the country.
“The target is to catch them young and now we are hopeful some future champions can come from this clinic/tournament. We expect to have fun with the kids in the spirit of Easter,” she said.
