An Oyo State High Court has sentenced a middle aged man, Idris Rasheed to 12 years imprisonment for having an unlawful and forcefull carnal knowledge of one Tawakalitu Olayiwola, a woman in Pudah (popularly called Eleha in Yoruba).
On January 28, last year, about 10pm, Tawakalitu Olayiwola, a woman in Pudah (Eleha) was stranded at Abayomi Area, Iwo Road, Ibadan.
A Muslim, Tawakalitu, thought of passing the night at any mosque, and approached Rasheed to guide her to the nearest mosque in the area.
But, the defendant lured the victim to a desolate place where he had unlawful carnal knowledge of the victim.
The defendant was arrested by people after the woman had escaped from the dilapidated house and was handed over to the police at Testing Ground, Agodi before he was transferred to State C.I.D, Iyaganku, Ibadan for further investigation.
The defendant was subsequently charged to court and found guilty.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr O. A Ekundayo, who urged the court to tender justice with mercy.
He pleaded with the court to give the defendant another chance considering his young age. But, Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, presiding over Court 10 of the Oyo State High Court, Ring Road, Ibadan had adjourned the matter for adoption of the final written address of counsel which were adopted.
