In a move that will send a strong warning to property owners in Oyo State to be wary of yielding their properties to individuals with hideous and shady dealings, the Engineer Seyi Makinde-led government in the state has demolished the three-bedroom bungalow which was used to house the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu, and her twin sons, located in Lako Community, Ayegun-Anaye Road area of Ibadan.

The demolition exercise was carried out on Monday by a team led by the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Architect Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, accompanied by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Transport, Prince Goke Adenrele and the officials of the Ministry.

According to the commissioner, the move was part of efforts by the government to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.

Mogbonjubola noted that the state government has also revoked the land from its owner in its commitment to ensure safety of lives and combat insecurity in the state.

He admonished landlords’ associations, housing agents and residents of the state to always be vigilant about their areas and tenants and alert the government on any suspicious movement or criminal activities.

Speaking earlier, the Vice Chairman of the Landlords Association, Ayegun- Lako Community, Mr Matthew Olaiya, said the occupant of the three-bedroom bungalow rented the apartment recently.

Responding to a question on whether residents of the area noticed suspicious activities before the abduction incident occurred, Mr Olaiya noted that the occupant of the building always returned late in the night and used to be away for days.
