Scottish champions Celtic FC are expected to make a final decision on the future of Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, before the end of June.

According to the Mirror, the Scottish champions are expected to determine whether the Nigerian striker will remain at Parkhead before the end of June.

The former Manchester City player joined the Hoops as a free agent in September 2025 after mutually terminating his contract with the Spanish side, Sevilla.

Iheanacho endured a difficult spell in Spain, struggling to rediscover his best form and failing to make a significant impact despite a loan stint at Championship club Middlesbrough.

Consequently, Sevilla opted to part ways with the former Leicester City forward, paving the way for his move to Scotland.

The 29-year-old, however, enjoyed a career revival at Celtic Park, scoring crucial goals as the Glasgow giants secured a domestic double.

Nevertheless, uncertainty remains over his long-term future at Celtic, with his current contract set to expire at the end of June 2026.

Although the Scottish champions possess an option to extend his deal by an additional year, they have yet to activate the clause due to concerns surrounding the striker’s fitness.

Despite making a notable impact from the bench on several occasions, the Nigerian featured in the league’s starting XI just four times.

Celtic manager Martin O’Neill is expected to make a definitive decision regarding Iheanacho’s future before the end of the month.

For his part, the Super Eagles forward is understood to be keen on remaining in Glasgow, where he believes he can continue rebuilding his career and demonstrate the qualities that once made him one of Nigeria’s most highly rated attackers.
