The Director-General, Governor Ademola Adeleke’s Campaign Council, Senator Olalere Oyewumi, has called for a probe of the killing of 14-year-old boy, Ezekiel Olapade, who was killed in Irepodun Local Government Area of Osun State on Sunday by suspected thugs.

Oyewumi, also the Senate Deputy Minority Leader, called for the redeployment of the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, for allegedly feigning ignorance of political killings.

Oyewumi addressing reporters with the father of the late teenager, Gbenga Olapade, at Imole Campaign Outlet, lamented the spate of political killings and brutality in the state, adding: “The violence is gradually threatening the very fabric of peace, security, and democratic stability of Osun State.’’

Oyewumi bemoaned that despite the Police Command’s identifying the alleged leader of the killer-gang, nothing had been done.

“The Imole Campaign Council unequivocally condemns this barbaric act. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Olapade family and all peace-loving people of Osun State who continue to endure the consequences of politically motivated assassinations as we have in this context,” he said.

Olapade alleged that hoodlums killed his son, adding: ‘’This is very unfortunate, my boy just finished his Junior Secondary school exam. He was shot in the head.”

The state All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Director of Media, Chief Kola Olabisi,in a statement condemned the killing and also called for an investigation of the incident.

He denied involvement of supporters of the APC candidate in the killing as claimed by some people.

He added: “Without mincing words that our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Oyebamiji, does not believe in violence and he has never and will never sponsor violence against anyone or group of persons as it is his belief that the political ambition of any individual is not worth the blood of any person.”

Mr. Saheed Tanfeani, who was alleged to have perpetrated the crime, denied the claim. He explained that he was not at Ilobu on Sunday when the incident happened. He alleged: “Adeleke and Hon Kunle want to frame me up. I am an Executive Assistant to the chairman of the council.”
