Popular Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has advised young people with big ambitions not to abandon God after achieving success.
Speaking in a recent interview with Kiss Xtra, the singer addressed the growing trend of celebrities, especially Christians, who stop attending church after becoming famous.
Davido said his first piece of advice to young boys with big dreams is to believe in themselves and stay committed to their craft.
He recalled learning music from YouTube and from the people around him while growing up, and stressed that constant self-improvement helped him.
The award-winning artist said, “My advice for young boys with big dreams is, first of all, believe in yourself. I worked on my craft so much. I loved music so much that I just wanted to get better every time. When I was young, I was learning from YouTube and the people around me”.
He added that the second key is to love what you do and keep God close, particularly after making it.
According to him, the entertainment industry is full of distractions that can make people forget that God is the reason for their success.
“Secondly, love what you do and put God first and close, especially when you make it, because there are so many distractions that can make you forget he is the reason you are here”, he added.
The singer’s remarks come amid public conversations about celebrities drifting away from faith after fame.
