The newly appointed Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Segun Aina, has officially unveiled a five-pillar agenda aimed at strengthening the body’s governance, expanding its digital infrastructure, and improving service delivery over the next five years.
The agenda is designed to position JAMB as Africa’s most trusted, innovative, and accessible assessment and admissions institution.
According to a statement by JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs, Dr Fabian Benjamin, Prof. Aina announced the reform agenda on Monday, his first day in office after formally assuming leadership of the board, describing his assumption of duty as both “a homecoming and a solemn responsibility.”
He pledged to build on the strong foundation laid by his predecessor, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, through innovation, stronger institutional systems, and a renewed commitment to excellent service delivery.
Presenting his strategic blueprint titled “JAMB 2031: Building Trust, Reducing Trauma”, the Registrar said the five-year development agenda (2026–2031) is built around Project 2:5:7—two strategic objectives, five enduring pillars and seven flagship initiatives, to transform the Board into a globally respected institution driven by technology, integrity and stakeholder confidence.
“The agenda is based on JAMB’s official duty to provide fair, trustworthy, secure, and equal access to higher education through clear registration, reliable assessments, and placing qualified candidates based on merit,” he said.
Prof. Aina reaffirmed his vision of making JAMB Africa’s most trusted, innovative, and accessible assessment and admissions institution, emphasising that the Board’s credibility would continue to rest on robust systems, institutional values, and enduring partnerships rather than individuals.
The registrar explained that the agenda would be implemented through five enduring pillars, each designed to strengthen the institution and improve the experience of candidates and other stakeholders.
The first pillar, the Foundation, emphasises strengthening institutional credibility through internationally recognised standards such as ISO 27001 certification, independent technology reviews, and verifiable systems that guarantee transparency, accountability, and public trust.
The second pillar, Service – The Heart, focuses on transforming customer experience through responsive service delivery, transparent communication, proactive stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement across all points of interaction with candidates, parents, institutions, and the public.
Under the third pillar, Governance – The Framework, the Board plans to improve how the institution is run by better monitoring performance, managing contracts effectively, ensuring operations can withstand challenges, and enhancing internal accountability to make sure programs are completed on time and meet set standards.
The fourth pillar, Technology—The Enabler, underscores the central role of innovation in JAMB’s future. The Board will consolidate and expand its in-house technology infrastructure by deploying scalable digital platforms to support mobile services, web applications, and printing systems, as well as advanced artificial intelligence and data analytics for decision-making and service delivery.
Recognising that institutional success requires collaboration, the fifth pillar, Partnerships—The Multiplier, seeks to deepen engagement with financial institutions, including fintech companies, educational organisations and international partners, to support innovation, improve service delivery, and expand opportunities for stakeholders.
To translate the agenda into measurable outcomes, Prof. Aina announced seven flagship initiatives to be pursued over the next five years. These include; a comprehensive independent technology review of JAMB’s infrastructure; attainment of ISO 27001 Information Security Certification; development of a unified JAMB mobile app; strategic communication and brand repositioning; establishment of a unified customer service platform; implementation of a paperless, enterprise-wide digital administration system; and enhanced staff welfare and capacity development.
According to the Registrar, “These initiatives are intended to make JAMB more responsive, digitally integrated, secure, and efficient, while improving public confidence in the Board’s operations.”
Prof. Aina stressed that while technology would remain at the heart of JAMB’s transformation, people would remain its greatest asset.
He noted that every registration represents the aspirations of a young Nigerian and the sacrifices of parents and guardians, assuring candidates and stakeholders that his administration would continue to simplify processes, improve communication, and ensure that fairness, transparency, and integrity remain the hallmarks of the Board.
He further called on members of staff to embrace innovation, professionalism, and teamwork, reminding them that institutions become outstanding when their people are united by shared values and a common purpose.
As JAMB embarks on this new chapter, Prof. Aina reaffirmed his commitment to building stronger systems that will endure beyond individuals, deepen public trust, and position the Board as a global benchmark in technology-driven examination and admissions administration.
