The Accord Party governorship candidate and the governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday inaugurated the newly constructed Oke-Fia flyover in Osogbo, as his cousin, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, urged electorate in the state to be peaceful during the August 15 gubernatorial poll.
The Afrobeat superstar, while addressing the crowd at the event, charged voters to come out en masse and vote for the candidate of their choice without fear.
Davido, while urging the residents to participate actively in the election, also advised them to remain at their polling units after voting to ensure that all lawful votes were counted.
“I want everyone to come out en masse and vote for the candidate of your choice. Stay back and protect your vote, but do so peacefully. Don’t fight anybody. Let your vote speak for you,” Davido said.
In his remarks at the event, Adeleke, while explaining that election is key to the sustenance of democratic rule, implored eligible voters to exercise their civic responsibility peacefully and ensure that their votes count.
Adeleke commended Osun people for their continued support since he assumed office and assured them that his administration would deliver more developmental projects and people-oriented programmes if re-elected.
“I thank the good people of Osun State for standing by this administration. Your support has encouraged us to deliver projects that are transforming our state.
“I urge you to come out in large numbers on election day and vote peacefully. If given another opportunity, we will do even more for our people,” the governor said.
The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, represented by the Asiwaju of Osogbo, Justice Adekunle Adeigbe (retd), lauded Adeleke for projects executed in the town that he said have remarkably transformed the community.
Adeigbe said, “We appreciate Governor Adeleke for this magnificent edifice. Osogbo has witnessed significant infrastructural development under this administration, and this project is a testament to the government’s commitment to improving the lives of the people.”
