The Oyo State Government has commenced further engagements with Community Development Council (CDC) chairmen and waste consultants in Ibadan to strengthen the implementation of the house-to-house waste collection policy across the metropolis.
The Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Ademola Aderinto, stated this policy during a progressive meeting with CDC chairmen and waste consultants held at the NEWMAP Hall of the ministry.
Aderinto explained that the meeting was aimed at creating a stronger synergy among the government, community leaders and waste consultants to ensure effective implementation of the house-to-house waste collection system and promote proper waste disposal practices.
He emphasised the need for all stakeholders to work together towards eliminating indiscriminate dumping of refuse on road medians, open spaces and other unauthorised locations across the state.
The Commissioner urged the CDC chairmen to mobilise residents within their respective communities to embrace the house-to-house waste collection system, stressing that community participation was essential to achieving a cleaner and healthier Oyo State.
He further called on the waste consultants to improve their service delivery and collaborate effectively with the government and communities.
