Nigeria’s Super Eagles defender, Semi Ajayi, has been named in WhoScored’s English Premier League Team of the Week following his impressive display for Hull City in their stunning 2-0 victory over Manchester United.
Ajayi played a key role as Hull made a memorable return to the Premier League, helping the newly promoted side secure a clean sheet against Michael Carrick’s team at the MKM Stadium on Saturday.
The former Arsenal player also made a decisive contribution at the other end of the pitch, opening the scoring in the 17th minute.
Ajayi reacted quickest to a rebound inside the Manchester United penalty area before firing Hull into the lead.
His defensive contribution was equally important as Hull restricted United to limited clear-cut opportunities throughout the encounter.
Ajayi was subsequently substituted in the 64th minute after helping the Tigers maintain their two-goal advantage.
The former West Bromwich Albion star, who was named Man of the Match, is joined in WhoScored’s Team of the Week by Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, while Michael Kayode and Keane Lewis-Potter represent Brentford.
Jaka Bijol and Anton Stach made the selection for Leeds United, with Brentford midfielder Vitaly Janelt also included.
