In the spirit of the Eid-el-Maulud celebration, Oyo South senatorial candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) and member representing the Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West federal constituency of Oyo state in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, has donated ₦10 million to the Abdul-Azeez Arisekola Central Mosque, Iwo Road, Ibadan.
Odidiomo announced the donation during last week’s Friday Juma’at service at the mosque, where he joined me Muslim faithful in worship and used the occasion to reflect on the significance of the birth and exemplary life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), particularly his teachings on compassion, sacrifice, and service to humanity.
The federal lawmaker, who described Eid-el-Maulud as a period for Muslims to renew their commitment to the virtues exemplified by the Prophet, said the celebration should go beyond festivities to inspire greater love, unity, generosity, and concern for the less privileged in society.
He said his decision to support the mosque was borne out of his belief that places of worship remained important centers for spiritual guidance, adding that supporting religious institutions was part of his commitment to fostering social cohesion within the communities he represents.
The Abdul-Azeez Arisekola Central mosque, located on Iwo Road, Ibadan, is one of the prominent Islamic worship centers in Ibadan and was established by the late Aare Abdul-Azeez Arisekola Alao, a prominent Muslim leader and philanthropist who made significant contributions to Islamic activities and religious causes during his lifetime.
The donation, according to Olajide Odidiomo, was made in the spirit of the season and as part of his support for religious and community initiatives, while wishing Muslim faithful a peaceful and spiritually rewarding Eid-el-Maulud celebration.
He prayed that the occasion would bring renewed faith, unity, and blessings to Muslim families in Ibadan, Oyo South Senatorial District, and Nigeria at large.
