The Oyo State Government has ensured the timely payment of salaries to environmental vanguards and sweepers working under the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, bringing them in line with the payment schedule of other civil servants in the State.
This development marks the first time since the inception of the programme that Environmental Vanguards and Sweepers are receiving their salaries promptly alongside regular civil servants, a development that has boosted their morale and renewed their commitment to environmental sanitation and protection across the state.
The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Ademola Aderinto, commended the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde for its goodwill and commitment to the welfare of environmental workers, noting that the development demonstrates the government’s appreciation of their contributions to keeping Oyo State clean and environmentally sustainable.
Aderinto stated that the timely payment would further motivate the Vanguards and Sweepers to discharge their responsibilities diligently, particularly as the State intensifies efforts to improve environmental sanitation, waste management and compliance across communities.
