The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State, Senator (Dr) Sharafadeen Alli, has expressed deep grief over the death of former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji (Chief) Waheed Akin Olajide, FCA.
Olajide, who served as SSG under the administration of the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, reportedly died on Tuesday at the age of 76.
Alli described the deceased as an accomplished administrator, distinguished professional, patriotic Oyo indigene and a man whose contributions to the development of the state would remain indelible.
He said Olajide’s death was a painful loss to his family, friends, associates, the political class, professional community and the entire people of Oyo State.
According to him, the deceased distinguished himself through integrity, competence, courage and dedication to public service, particularly during his service as SSG under the Ajimobi administration.
“Alhaji Waheed Olajide was a rare breed of public servant whose wealth of experience, wisdom and commitment contributed immensely to good governance and institutional development in Oyo State.
“His death is not merely a personal loss to his family; it is a monumental loss to Oyo State and all those who benefited from his wisdom, counsel and remarkable service to humanity,” Alli said.
Alli commiserated with the Olajide family, the government and people of Oyo State, as well as the associates and colleagues of the deceased, urging them to take solace in his worthy legacy.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive Olajide’s shortcomings, grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus and give his family the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
