Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has dissolved the Governing Council of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) and reconstituted a new council to strengthen the governance structure of the institution.
The governor, in a statement issued on Friday in Osogbo by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, said the move was aimed at ensuring continuity in the administration of the university and preventing any gap in its operations.
According to the statement, the decision was taken “in a bid to strengthen the institution’s governance structures.”
The governor also reconstituted the council “to avoid gaps in the operation of the globally rated university.”
Sooko (Prof.) Adewale Abiodun Oladipo, who chaired the dissolved governing board, was retained as the pro-chancellor and chairman of the newly reconstituted council.
Other members of the council are Alhaji Gbadegesin Lawal; Her Excellency, Otunba Titi Laoye-Ponnle; Mr. Akinola Franklin Omoniyi; Chief Funminiyi Awotide; Mr. Orija Samuel Adebayo; and Mrs. Adewale Adetayo Bola.
Adeleke charged the new council with sustaining the university’s existing achievements and supporting its management in driving further innovation.
The governor tasked the council to “sustain the excellent record of the university and support the university management for further innovative deliveries.”
The inauguration of the newly reconstituted Governing Council will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026.
