Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, is set to miss three games after suffering an adductor muscle strain injury in Galatasaray‘s 3-2 victory over Istanbul Başakşehir on Friday evening.

The former Napoli striker sustained the injury in the first half after opening the scoring for the Super Lig champions with a powerful strike into the top corner.

The skillful striker was subsequently replaced by Turkish winger Barış Alper Yılmaz in the 33rd minute after suffering the injury during the contest.

Osimhen underwent a medical assessment to ascertain the nature of the injury following his substitution and was confirmed to have sustained a groin injury.

According to a report from Turkish outlet Le Marca Sports, the Nigerian international is set to miss Galatasaray’s next three matches across all competitions.

Osimhen is reportedly expected to miss the UEFA Champions League clash against Sporting Lisbon as well as the Super Lig encounters against Kocaelispor and Trabzonspor.

The injury will come as a major concern for Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk, who will be keen to have his star striker available as the club continues its campaign across domestic and European competitions.

The setback could also raise concerns for Super Eagles manager Eric Chelle ahead of the upcoming 2027 AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.

Osimhen will now be keen to follow his recovery programme and regain full fitness as quickly as possible as he looks to return to action and continue his impressive campaign with Galatasaray.
