Former Nigeria’s Super Falcons defender, Osinachi Ohale, has completed a permanent move to Italian side Como 1907 following her departure from Mexican club Pachuca.
The experienced center-back joins Como on a free transfer after spending three years with Pachuca, scoring six goals in 81 league appearances.
The 34-year-old is returning to Italian football after previously featuring for AS Roma in 2020.
Ohale has expressed her excitement about returning to Italy and beginning a new chapter with Como 1907.
“I’m delighted to return to Italy and embark on this new experience here in Como; I have a very positive feeling about it. I’m ready to do whatever the coach asks of me to help the team,” she said, according to the club’s official website.
As 1907 Women’s Technical Director Nils Nielsen believes the defender’s wealth of experience will be a valuable addition to the team.
“Osinachi is a very experienced and excellent defender. Having represented Nigeria for more than 15 years, many of which were Nigeria for more than 15 years, many as captain, her international experience is extremely valuable for us,” Nielsen said.
“Her ability to place herself in the right spot defensively and her 1-on-1 skills in marking, as well as aerial strengths, will help the team for sure.”
Ohale began her professional career in Nigeria in 2008 and has since played in several countries, including the United States, Sweden, Italy, Spain, and Mexico.
At the international level, she represented Nigeria for more than 15 years, serving as captain on several occasions and winning the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) five times.
The veteran defender announced her retirement from international football last month, bringing an end to a distinguished career with the Super Falcons.
