The 1981/86 Class Set of the Ibadan Grammar School Old Students Association (IGSOSA) has reaffirmed its commitment to educational development and the welfare of its alma mater with the commissioning of a renovated Chevron Electronic Library and a borehole water facility at Ibadan Grammar School, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The historic event, held on Monday, November 2, 2026, at the school premises, also featured the presentation of awards to outstanding Junior Secondary School Three (JS3) and Senior Secondary School Three (SS3) students, as well as deserving teachers in recognition of their exceptional contributions to academic excellence and the development of the institution.

The projects, facilitated by members of the 1981/86 Class Set, form part of the group’s sustained efforts to give back to the institution that laid the foundation for their academic, professional, and personal achievements.

The renovation of the Chevron Electronic Library is expected to further strengthen the school’s learning environment by providing students with improved access to educational resources and digital learning opportunities, while the borehole water facility will help address the school’s water needs and promote a healthier learning environment.

The occasion also provided an opportunity to celebrate excellence and recognise individuals whose contributions to the class and society have remained commendable.

As part of the ceremony, awards of honour were presented to some distinguished members of the class set, including Oladele Taiwo and other notable personalities, in recognition of their contributions and commitment to the association’s ideals.

Speaking on the significance of the intervention, the initiative reflects the enduring bond between the alumni and their alma mater, as well as the belief that giving back to one’s educational foundation remains an important responsibility.

The gesture also underscores the importance of alumni associations in complementing government efforts towards improving educational infrastructure, encouraging academic excellence and creating better opportunities for younger generations.

For the IGSOSA Class Set 81/86, the commissioning of the projects represents more than the provision of physical facilities; it is a demonstration of gratitude, unity, shared responsibility and a determination to leave behind a legacy that will benefit generations of students.

The class set further reiterated the importance of collective commitment in sustaining the growth and development of Ibadan Grammar School, expressing confidence that the projects and recognition of excellence would inspire both students and teachers to strive for greater achievements.

Indeed, through the intervention, the 1981/86 Class Set has once again demonstrated that the true measure of a successful alumni association lies not only in the achievements of its members but also in its willingness to invest in the future of its alma mater.
